About the Portugal Golden Visa Program

Portugal Golden Visa Program:

The Portugal Golden Visa program has been running since 2012 and has become the most popular residence by investment program. It allows qualified applicants to obtain residency status in Portugal without the need to live in Portugal. This program is an ideal solution for clients wishing to receive the freedom to live and work in the EU without compromising their current lifestyle.

Applicants are required to visit Portugal for at least for 7 days in the first year after receiving the Golden visa and no less than 14 days in each subsequent 2-year period.

The Golden visa must be renewed at the end of the first and third year. Permanent residence status is granted after five years. Applicants can obtain Portuguese citizenship in five years after the application for the Golden visa if they fulfil all the necessary program requirements.

Investment Options:

Fund Subscription:

1. A minimum of €500,000 subscription in qualifying Portuguese funds. The qualifying funds include Private Equity and Venture Capital funds in Portugal and exclude any funds that have direct or indirect real estate ties. The investment must be held for a minimum of 5 years.

Donation:

2. Capital transfer of €250,000 in support of artistic output or maintenance of national heritage. The investment must be made in an eligible project that has been pre-approved by the Portuguese government.

3. Capital transfer of €500,000 in research activities carried out by public or private scientific research institutions that are part of the Portuguese scientific and technological system.

Jobs’ Creation:

4. Creation of a minimum of ten new full-time jobs in a Portuguese business that is owned by the main applicant.

5. Creation of a minimum of eight new full-time jobs in a Portuguese business formed in a low-density area in Portugal, owned by the main applicant.

6. Invest a minimum of €500,000 in an existing Portuguese business. This business must create a minimum of five new full-time jobs.

Requirements

No previous criminal record
Main applicant – over 18 years old
Have a legitimate source of wealth
Good character
Have available the required investment funds
The program is available for non-EU nationals only

Who else can be included in the citizenship application:

Dependent children of the main applicant and spouse below 18 years old
Children up to 26 years old who are financially dependent on parents, not married and are in full time education

Preparation of the documents

Payment of the additional fees

Submission of the application

You will need to have 1 visit tot Portugal before we can submit the application to have biometrics taken. We will also secure your investment during this stage
1 year Golden visa program permit

Your Portuguese ID will be ready in around 6-10 months after the application. We will courier the ID to your preferred address or in person, depending on what is more convenient for you
2 year Golden visa permit

In a year after the first Golden visa we will assist you in obtaining the Golden visa for further 2 years
2 year Golden visa permit

3 years after your initial application we will assist you in obtaining the Golden visa for further 2 years
Permanent residence

After holding your Golden visa for 5 years we will assist you with applying for Permanent residence
Citizenship

After 5 years of fulfilling all the necessary requirements you may be eligible for Portuguese citizenship
